The input, experience and perfectionism from Jef Schils who won 110 professional races including the National Championships, Paris Tours, De Vlaamse Gewesten, Drie Zustersteden, De Omloop der Vlaamse Gewesten, Grote Scheldeprijs Schoten, De Schaal Sels, Brussel-Couvin, Brussel Bost etc. was of extreme value.

Jef’s son Patrick, himself a former professional cyclist managed in his 7 year cycling career 90 wins - 38 second - 35 third and 292 places in the top 5 before he had to retire because of injury. Amongst some of Patrick’s best achievements were a double win of the Olympia Gold Pedal the Trophee for the best Belgium rider over the year. The Superprestige GDM, Trofee Het Volk, The White jersey in the 2 week Tour of Chile, The Steiermark Tour of Austria, The Wiener Classic, The Mallorca Classic etc.

After 17 years off the bike, and five years back in the saddle, Patrick was enjoying competing for fun. He managed to win 37 times including one British National Road and two Criterium Championship titles. He decided to hang his wheels up to concentrate on the development of Schils cycles and the coaching of his now 16 year old son Dominic who apart from various successes in the UK, Belgium & Holland won British Cycling National 2005 Series and topped the road and track National rankings in his age group in 2005 & 2007 he closed the 2007 season with 25 International wins amongst them various National and Regional titles.

Recently Dennis van Gaveren joined the company, being a ex member of the Dutch National squad with a huge amount of experience of Road, Track, Cross and Time Trialling completes this cocktail of know how & experience together with Nickie Schils specialists Cycling race spectator and Ian Reed ex Time Trialist and head of the workshop. Lately part because Dominic’s successes on the Continent Velo Schils expanded his European side with Herman Trekels and Nicole Schils heading the Belgium based European operation.

Velo Schils agreed a 3 year long sponsorship deal with the Belgium Lotto Olympia Team this will allow youngsters of their British based InterBike - Boyer - Schils Team to gain valuable experience on the continent.
